Shrews are small, insect-eating mammals characterized by their long, pointed snouts, tiny eyes, frenetic activity, and short lifespans. Britain is home to four species.

Britain's only diving shrew, and found primarily in wetland habitats, the Eurasian water shrew is also the largest shrew species we have on the mainland.
